Instructions

Heat Transfer Vinyl

  1. Cut your design in reverse on the side that does not show the final color (e.g., for red, cut on the white side; for black, white, silver, and gold, cut on the glossier side; for glitter, cut on the non-glitter side). Still having trouble finding the right side to cut? Check out this blog post!
  2. Weed the sheet—if it’s not easy to weed, you probably cut on the wrong side.
  3. Place the sheet on your receiving material cut-side down/final color up. For the best results, cover with a Teflon sheet.
  4. Heat at 300 to 320° F for 8 to 10 seconds.
  5. Allow to fully cool and then peel!

Note: Apparent sheet imperfections should go away once the sheet is applied.

Adhesive Vinyl

  1. Cut your design on the side showing the color you’re going for. Don’t mirror the design!
  2. Weed the sheet (see the end of this tutorial if you don't know how).
  3. Place transfer tape over the remaining vinyl design. Use an applicator or other flat and hard item (e.g., bank card) to smooth away any bubbles and to make sure the tape is firmly attached.
  4. Pull away the vinyl’s backing paper, leaving the vinyl design attached to the transfer tape.
  5. Apply the design to your object. Smooth away bubbles working from the center out. Carefully peel away the transfer tape.

Acceptable Fabrics

Most fabrics are suitable for heat transfer vinyls. However, coated fabrics such as nylon should be avoided.

Care Instructions

Heat Transfer Vinyl

  1. Wait 24 hours after application to wash
  2. Turn garment inside out
  3. Machine wash warm or cold with mild detergent
  4. No bleach
  5. Tumble dry low heat
  6. When ironing, turn the garment inside out or cover with a cotton or Teflon sheet. Never iron the HTV directly (after application) and do not use steam.
  7. Metallic HTV: Because this material is very soft once applied, we recommend that you HAND WASH any garment that has this metallic HTV on it. Machine washing this metallic vinyl risks wrinkling it.

Adhesive Vinyl

Any items decorated with adhesive vinyl should be hand washed. While bigger and thicker designs may survive the top rack of the dishwasher, it also risks causing damage.
